I must confess to having developed a slight fetish over the last few months. I know that some people find it weird and that it doesn't alway "fit" within the purist cafe/bobber scene, but.....I really like fairings. Whether it's a bikini, half or full fairing, lately every bike that I see with one bolted on looks hot and every bike I see without one, I picture it with one on and it looks better! So what happens when the gents from RB Racing get their hands on a matching fairing and tank kit, "hey Presto" a sweet green SR 400 aptly named "Presto".
When Geoff, Harley and Starsi saw the Presto Garage fairing and tank kit they new that they needed to get this put on a bike ASAP. The shop was raided of random parts and the bike was built.
"The green bike, which we call 'Presto' was built for sale out of random stuff we had about the place. We cut the rear of the frame, and fabricated the new tail light mount, made mounts for the fairing kit, and fitted an extended swingarm. We fitted a stock 400 engine, smooth bore CR carb with a mini pod, and an underslung exhaust with a megaphone muffler. When we offered up the tank and fairing, it started to take some shape, and the rest of the bike came together. It has a Daytona top triple clamp , clipons and gauges, we fitted lowered front springs, and remodelled an old seat we had to give it the distinct cafe look. The fairing stay at the front has been fabricated from stainless steel tube, and holds an after market headlight we got, that fits the hole in the fairing nicely. The build on Presto took a few weeks, on and off, and the whole bike was really built around the Presto Garage tank and fairing set. We really like this bike, mostly because it has a look we don’t see often, and it gets the strangest looks when you ride it. Also, it’s bloody comfy as well."
The bike recently sold to a Sydney Cafe Racers member so you will be seeing it ridden in the flesh soon enough.
